Office Building on Carrer Sant Honorat, Barcelona
The Moixó and Morell houses, which date back to the 19th century, are located in Carrer Sant Honorat and Carrer Call, forming the northwest corner of Plaça Sant Jaume. Carrer Sant Honorat marks the eastern limit of the city’s medieval Jewish quarter.
The objective of this project is to design an office building that conserves the original façades looking onto Carrer Sant Honorat as well as the space between the supporting walls of these historic houses, ensuring perfect integration into their medieval surroundings.
The building is structured around a nucleus of vertical communications located at the edge of the two houses and bridges the difference in level generated as a result of conserving the façades. The reorganisation of the volumes includes the creation of a gardened courtyard in the interior of the block.
